“With education, comes knowledge. With knowledge, comes knowing. With knowing, comes care. And with care, comes conservation."
Education is the most effective part of conservation and the chief role of zoos. Hence, The ZOQ Advanced Environmental Educational System is a carefully composed system in order to deliver up-to-date and new, advanced educational practices to change the mindset of the existing generation and foster the upcoming one.
Humans have an impact on the world’s natural environment in many ways such as deforestation, pollution, fossil fuels and climate change. At the Zoo of Queensland, we aim to create a culture of education and conservation to challenge how people think, feel and act towards the natural world. The environmental issues that are threatening the future of our planet are done by corporations and companies, and these are funded by the general public. Thus, the general public is the hotspot in conservation operations. As shown in the graph below;
Without changing the mindset of the general public, our fight to save the planet is pointless. Thus, if we focus on the education of the general public, we can target changes within the community and foster behaviour toward better conservation practices.
The ZOQ’s Advanced Environmental Educational System targets all ages and groups with highly effective, interactive education. It is our mission to provide quality environmental education through a range of learning opportunities and activities for all ages. We are committed to teaching through our hands, minds, hearts, and protect approach to change behaviour towards advanced conservation practices.
